Having appropriate insurance is extremely
important in today’s society. We all know that. But did you know that
disability insurance is perhaps the most undersold type of insurance for what
it’s worth? So many people feel no need to have coverage for random happenings,
yet there are many reasons to actually have it.
Check out our list of “fun” life hobbies that
warrant getting a policy. Just in case.
Backpacking
and camping.
Going on a hike and setting up camp in the
wilderness can be such a healthy and beautiful experience when with the right
people and going in with a good mindset. The land is beautiful. Conquering
mountains is outstanding. Being on your own and living off the land is
invigorating. It’s all just a wonderful feel-good experience.
The problem is, it can also be pretty dangerous
if you’re underprepared or don’t have enough food and water. Slipping down a
particularly large mountain, falling off ledges, and other unimaginable mishaps
await anyone who hasn’t taken the time to really know what they’re doing and
pack appropriately.
However, if you go in with a prepared group, the
right gear, and a great map for the lay of the land, you can safely traverse
even the toughest of trails out there.
Traveling
abroad.
This one is a gimme. Being away in some foreign
country can be extremely dangerous, especially if you’re not familiar with the
place you’ll be traveling in. Sometimes, it seems like anything goes in some
countries that are rather underdeveloped. From contracting diseases to possibly
getting hurt while traveling unfamiliar terrain, you need to be quite careful
when out of your element. Making sure you know the rules of the road from one
country to the next is quite important to maintain your safety and knowledge of
that nation’s customs, too.
Driving
across the States.
Finally, driving cross country is quite dangerous
just considering the statistics of Americans being injured more often in car
accidents that perhaps any other encounter. Even though you yourself may be a
super safe and aware driver, other drivers can make the trip unsafe for you and
your passengers.
Making sure you have some sort of policy for
disability insurance before traveling or doing strenuous things is a great way
to be proactive in the off chance that something goes majorly wrong. Don’t go
traveling unprepared when things can affect the course of your life if they go
wrong.
